just got to changing my wheel bearings and realize there is no hub gasket, the PO must have thrown it out when he changed his last. How bad is it for me to install hub without gasket? can I use a small amount of RTV instead?

Make your own gasket. Get some thin gasket material at your local auto parts store and cut one out. RTV will make it difficult to remove the hub the next time….
