Everytime I change my oil, every 5k, I detail the engine bay while the oil is draining. Doing this, the engine bay stays clean and doesn't take much time/effort to keep it that way.

Light mist of water and light mist of some simple green. The cheap micro towels from HF work well and are cheap enough to toss out when done.

Are you driving with your hood open again?

    Welcome to the forum.

As @MI-FL off roader said above I use Simple Green. You will find it in the auto parts store, probably at WalMart and the hardware store.

I spray the Simple Green which normally causes the dirt to start lifting and running off, and before the Simple Green starts to dry, rinse lightly with running water. (I usually cover the alternator with a plastic bag before starting spraying Simple Green).

Do Not Use a Pressure washer or any kind of water spray under pressure or with a lot of force.

Wash it. I use a pressure washer with deionized water.

Yea...You just wanted to show off that CAI. Mine has faded like an old stop sign in 8 years.

Nah. I’m considering ditching it for a HPS hose on the stock box but I would have to have an out of state buddy order and ship to me.

I cover the alternator with a plastic bag, then use my thumb nozzle to get loose dirt rinsed off. Let dry and saturate everything with cheapo tire foam. And I mean saturate everything,...... EXCEPT THE ALTERNATOR. Stay away from that. Behind the head lights, firewall, fuse box, battery, everything, metal parts, too. Hit it hard with the cheapo tire foam. Armor All is the cheapest around here. May have to do it twice. The results are amazing. May take 1/2 hour depending on dry time.

I was skeptical as hell when I heard about this treatment, but damn, it really works. And is super easy. Don't forget to remove the plastic bag.

    Oooh look, another mod.....

Be careful bro, that kind of talk usually starts a rumble about when/how-often to change the oil. I hit my engine with simple green every few months, and use my pressure washer to clean it off. Then I use my cordless leaf blower to get rid of excess water.

My truck is just over 1yr old, and the engine bay (and under carriage) still look brand new.

    Be careful!
You should normally have the filler cap open when the oil is draining to speed up the process and reduce vacuum.
Don't want to run a spray of water while that thing is open.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
+1 for Simple Green, I also use Scrubbing Bubbles down low around real tough oil areas
but away from polished aluminum like the plenum as it will oxidize it.
Original owner, 34 yrs old, 250K. In this case bag the distributor or plan on drying the inside off.
    Edit:
I use a regular garden hose nozzle.
