When you think about all the stuff that your truck runs over on the road... I wouldn't get excited about that as long as there are no oil drips on the ground under the engine when you park it, and the oil level doesn't change much on the dipstick.

Have you had a look underneath and in front of where that spot is? Can you see anything above it in the engine compartment?

that is definitely not from running something over on the road, there is no cast off, which there would be from a spinning tire.

Have you touched/smelled it to confirm it's oil?

Things in the vicinity in the engine compartment
    - Sulfuric acid spilling out of the battery
    - Front diff oil puking out of the breather
    - Spilled engine oil from filling
    - Broken oil filler neck (only for dual battery setups)

I’ve had a few oil changes where as much oil was left all over my engine compartment as there was in the engine. You should investigate but I’m betting a shitty oil change job and blowback all over. Look around to confirm because a single photo doesn’t tell the whole story. Good luck

Just checking back in with OP; Were you able to find out the root cause?

No oil spots here. That looks like a lot of something was spilled inside the engine bay. Have you had the oil changed on it? I’d pop the hood and take a look around. Make sure the oil fill cap is on and tight.
