What is this broken connection going to?

Found this connection with one wire pulled out, What is it going to and is it important? bypass?

 

Oh, the wonderful world of the Gen2 vacuum system. You gotta re-connect that broken (Pix) wire. It takes "signal" from the "PAIR" thingy (Pix2 & 3) and sends it somewhere. I am sure where and don't really care. However, I will tell you, after tracing all my '95 4runner's hoses and replacing the Vacuum Modulator, everything has got to be connected and not leaking for proper performance.

 

That’s the egr temperature sensor. It’s only on CA models. It will trigger a code 71 for egr performance. You should repair it, I would cut off the connector from the harness of a junker and leave a few inches of wire so you can solder it into your rigs harness. You can bypass the sensor by wiring in a 10k ohm resistor, that will turn off the CEL. It will make you fail the visual on an emissions inspection if you bypass that sensor though.
