I’m missing my 4Runner this week. I sold it to a neighbor and bought myself a pretty sweet little Honda Civic manual to throw around until the Land Cruisers are available. It’s a fun car and 36 mpg is a treat, but I hate all the driving Nannie’s and we brought it on our Christmas trip and I cursed myself the whole way for getting rid of the 4Runner. So if you’re thinking of selling yours, don’t.

Looks like you will be waiting a while for the Landcruiser. I heard they sold out the entire allocation in 30 minutes in Germany. Expect the same when it goes live here plus of course the added 10 to 20k+ market adjustment. It will probably be 2 to 3 years before they start selling at MSRP or lower. But I agree to not sell until they are out and selling for msrp or less.

I'm poor, my wife owns everything.
My wife and I just did the opposite. Traded in her 2020 civic sport for a 24' ORP. The civic mpg was great and that little i4 turbo engine was zippy. However, my wife loves her new 4r. Gas mileage sucks but we knew that when we purchased. Enjoy the civic for what it is and get that new LC when you have the opportunity.

What nannies can't you turn off in a new Civic? I'd guess engine stop/start functionality defaults to on?

We keep my SO's HR-V's lane departure alert off but so far I haven't complained about the 4Runner's yet.

The new LC will have more driving assist features thanks to the electric steering rack, like lane centering assist and lane trace assist. It'll have an additional coolant system for the hybrid inverter. If you want to shut off the vehicle immediately after hard use, you'll need to idle the engine for a minute to cool the turbo.

I had two recent Civics, a 22 Sport hatch manual and then a 23 Si (obviously manual). Loved them both and I keep thinking about buying another Si. I miss the pep, agility, manual, and fuel economy... The 4R just offers more practicality, and I drive so little that two cars makes no sense... And I wouldn't want to be without the utility of the 4R.

Luckily for you, you can always rectify a transaction you regret... There's a lot of 4Rs out there for sale...

So I set out to rectify my mistake...and long story short, got a gently used (11k miles) GX460 for less than a new 4R. Pick her up tomorrow. Can I still stick around once I've got the 4Runners snobby cousin?

Now don't sell your Honda Civic manual, you will curse yourself again.
