So I stumbled across a video on YouTube of interesting features for 4th Gen 4Runners
    https://youtu.be/ayc4WZ8xO-M

And since I just got my new 2019 5th Gen a week ago I was curious If there was similar information about some not so obvious features??? Like not having to shut the Cargo door all the way? Which I didn’t know

Man... in my 2019 sr5... You have to hold to start, Theres no "secret" glove box compartment, The cargo hatch DOES NOT pull itself closed with a motor, no burger tray, no trash bag holder...

The key does roll the rear window up, at least it has one of the things mentioned LOL

I watched the video and had to go check all of em

    Yea man LOL

It's not in that video but i figured out that you can roll the rear window up AND down by holding the key in the rear lock cylinder, just hold it the other way.

Well, now I'm gonna have to go over my 5th gen top to bottom to see if there's anything I've missed.

One 5th gen hidden feature some of you might not be aware of... you can turn off the green "ECO" light.

You do it in the settings menu on the screen between the speedometer and the tach.

(I know most of you guys know that. Just trying to help out the new guys/gals)

For those of you with a sunroof, when it’s slid open, hit the button again and it will slide open about an inch more. Learned this from my 3rd gen taco.

The stalk on the left side of the steering wheel can be moved up or down. Doing so before turns makes a yellow light flash on either side of the truck. This lets other drives know which direction you’re turning. It’s freaking genius! Unfortunately, 99% of the people in my state are unaware of this hidden secret. Please pass it on to a friend ::D

If only you could turn off the eco bar too. It's pointless.

You can turn it off if you buy the Carista OBDI reader on Amazon for $20 and download the free phone app.

You can make tons of settings changes with Carista. (Door locks, windows, lights, etc)

Looks like they were reviewing a 4th gen! My 2004 Sport 4th gen did/had all of the above. I really miss the start feature - took me a couple of months to unlearn the muscle memory. Still just turn the key right and quickly release it once in a while and can't figure out why it didn't start. Yes there was a compartment in the glove box that wasn't obvious if it was closed. The back of the center console had a rectangular ring that would pop up and you could put a trash bag in it. The hatch did pull itself closed - at least until I had 200+K on it and the latching mechanism failed! BTW it also had set the temp and forget auto heat/cool. I miss that 4runner.

Not sure if this is the case with all trim levels, but the rear seat reclines.

This question sort of fits in this thread... non-3rd row seats for me. And I have two tie down loops in the rear corners. What are these for? Seems like you'd need two more tie down points further up front to make the rear ones useful? What am I missing?

Does it come right back after you slow down or after restarting the vehicle? Or is it a permanent fix? Im guessing temporary....

You can turn off the bar itself or just the green eco light? I can turn off the green eco light in the settings... But if you can actually turn off that eco bar i might be willing to spend 20 bucks... Especially if i can turn off seatbelt dings as well. I currently use a seatbelt plug that stops the dinging... But it rattles when off road and annoys me LOL
