    I would stay with OEM.

OEM filters are good, but I went with AEM dry filter so I can increase the amount of time a replacement is required.

Stay away from K&N oil based air filters.

There really is no upgrade from OEM. Toyota spends millions to get the most MPG and power. The days of easy upgrades are over.

Stay away from K&N. Go with a paper filter from a reputable brand as long as it doesn't advertise itself as a high flow or designed for racing since they are designed for performance not protection that we need on 4wd. I use a Napa Gold, it works.

Oiled filters are problematic, they frequently get improperly oiled (if at all), and they aren't suited to very dusty conditions experienced off road. And some people say the oil fouls the MAF, which is probably untrue. Look at Project Farms video on it, they were in distant last place for filtering.

Oil bath air filters that inspired ones like K&N do work in harsh environments. But they are very different in design, and are seen on old tractors and trucks that don't have a maf to worry about.
