So I’ve had my 4runner for a while now and just noticed this. It’s got a lean on it after getting the lift installed.

I had it straight when I installed them and everything lined up properly, I got a BCM done about a month ago and now it’s leaving to the left about an inch. The shop I took it too mentioned that they adjusted the kit to fit the tires but I measured everything this weekend and the kings have the same amount of space.

has anyone had this issue happen so early with a new lift? Or is this a sign that the kings are shot and need to get replaced?

Could be because of incompetent shop lifting your 4runner. Some lifts require "trim packer", some lifts have different preload setting left vs right, if KDSS have a lean after installation there's a procedure to fix it. If you have KDSS don't even think of letting a non Toyota specialist shop touch it. I have installed quite a few lifts on my 4runners and never a problem. I go to Toyota specialist 4x4shops and normally pay 750ish for labor till 2020. (Prices may have gone up now).

The place I went to is pretty legit, and I don’t have kdss.

I know with my older 4runner i needed a spacer for the lean rhay I got out of it. Hopefully the shop calls me and fixes the problem or at least looks at it

By "left" do you mean driver side?

This is super common. Most people use a small spacer on the driver's side to offset this as mentioned (trim packer), and it probably would manifest itself soon after install.

The factory coil is heavier on the driver's side to offset this from the factory which is why you don't really see non lifted 4Rs leaning.

It's also common on Tacos - "Taco Lean" is a thing...

All of the weight is on the left side. Gas tank, battery, driver. It is enough to make it lean on one side. Very common issue and very talked about in these forums.

You mentioned that you noticed this after a "BCM". Did you mean Body Mount Chop (BMC)?

You mentioned it being a new set up but wondered if the Kings are worn...? Can you clarify that? In other words why would brand new shocks be worn already?

    Its normal.

Since you have Kings adjust one side to level it out. If the shop you took it to doesn't know this they got a ways to go. Its very common.

Yes the kings are brand new, that’s why I was skeptical about the lean on a brand new set up, the truck also only has 6k miles and yes the shop did the BMC and adjusted the kings

    Thats the whole point.

Drivers side is heavier. Cannot be the same.

Just got a email back from the shop

sounds like they’re not going to honor their work and I’ll be paying to get this issue fixed, honestly I’m kinda disappointed. Their response was that they warranty their work for 1 week. Might be going a different route for a new shop

Sorry this happened to you. Hopefully its not a costly job. Just compress the spring, use the right tool to adjust the preload collar per factory recommendation. Hopefully no special tool is needed. My shop was able to use my ELKA tool on my Ironman adjustment. Hope same story for Kings.

(No particular order but all are excellent)
    shaffers offroad
milogen fabrications (says fabs but does installs/adjustments)
    beeps offroad

Then get an alignment at auto innovations or beeps

It's not a warranty issue - it's an adjustment that any reputable shop would do. The couple of lifts I had done the shop literally told me to come back in a few hundred miles after everything had settled to get the torque values checked and any adjustments made; also the alignment shouldn't be done immediately but after a hundred miles or so - again, to allow the springs to settle. Your shop sounds like dried up stinky dicklickers and you should adjust them accordingly.

Where in the Bay Area? And what shop did you use for the original install?

I'm happy to give you a recommendation, but it might be far from you. I'm in the East Bay.

If you are going to run coilovers, you should really put in a bit of effort to learn about them. This is an easy fix, and normal part of ownership. You will also need to uninstall them have them serviced in the future. Again, that's part of the ownership of coilovers.

Stellar built! Isn't that place a top notch toyota shop? On insta they are always posting impressive builds. Think they'd know all about the 4runner lean.

Exactly why I went with them, even waited a month for me appointment. I was actually surprised they didn’t honor their work. So kinda leaning towards going to another shop

As stated in my post, my install had it lined up perfectly. All the coils are spaced out evenly. Took it to a shop and they “adjusted” it to fit my tires. Now it’s got a lean on it, everything is brand new. Coils are still evenly spaced. Threads have the same amount of space on each side

Yes and you’re not reading what was written. Your lean is due to the weight difference on either side of the vehicle. If all of your coils are set the same, you will have lean. Thus you adjust the preload to compensate. I suggest doing some research on coilovers and maintenance.

My 4Runner doesn't have a lift, but it does have a gangster lean.
