Still waiting on "my" 4Runner, but trying to think ahead a little.

I like to use the Waze app on longer trips, but don't like to use it on my iPhone because:

    a) I like to keep my phone in my pocket so it won't end up who-knows-where in an accident, and

    b) the phone display is difficult for my senior eyes to see.

Do any of you use an iPad mini or similar 'mini-tablet' for Waze? Any other recommendations for a Waze display?

    Thanx.

Wouldn't an Ipad be another thing to end up who knows where in an accident?
You could try one of the wireless carplay adapters.

Get the latest Garmin SmartDrive 86. Large screen. Sits on Dashboard. Connects to Car Bluetooth. Live Traffic.

Don't like the idea of looking down to watch/use the Car GPS.
Could cause an accident. Bad design.

CarPlay or Android Auto will allow you to plug your phone in and it will display on the screen. That is if you are getting a newer (2020 and newer I think?) 4Runner.

You would have to plug it in still.

There are pricey options available for wireless CarPlay too.

Yes, the iPad might disappear, but I'd still have my phone in my pocket so I could still call for help if needed.

    I'll check on adapters.

Waze works really well with apple car play on the 4R. I use it often. If you can get a MY with apple carplay that would be the best IMO

Waze is an available app to use with apple carplay/AA. Do I understand this correct, you just want to use waze without removing the phone from your pocket?
If so, you will need a wireless adapter for carplay.
Or a long cord to stick in your pocket.

Yes, you are correct. Phone in pocket. Sounds like a bluetooth adapter is what I'll need.

I love to use Waze when driving! Your new 4runner will come with CarPlay. Just get a wireless adapter like the CarLink and connect that way.

I added one of these to my console, too. So if you decide to take your phone out, it's secure and charging.

Oh this is great. I was planning on designing and 3d printing something like this but if it's on Amazon, that'll save me some time.

The same company (I think) makes a glove box organizer that is super slick as well, especially since the glovebox is more of a shelf than a bucket in these. No more opening and having stuff pour out.
