(Too bad there's not a forum for Vehicle Security)
So I bought my 4Runner in September last year and the Viper security system came with it.
I went to Viper's website and there were 4or5 in Austin. I either called or went by all of them and they don't sell Viper any more.
Last week I was in Houston and the first dealer I called said Come On Down! So I went to 1710 West Loop North and I'm not from Houston, it was a real nail biter...the traffic I mean.
The owner greeted me, then after that it was yack, yack, yack. They took my 4Runner around back and assessed what I had installed. The owner came back and said "...lock, unlock. No security" and proceeded to try and upsell me to an updated system for $250 with "Security" and it cost me $35 for their time. I left them in my rear view mirror.
I wondered about the thing by the windshield and why he didn't tell me about it.

Eibach Stage 2 lift. Pro front grill. Sound deaden doors, cargo area, and rear tailgate. Diode Dynamics fog lights. Anytime front camera connected to Kenwood head unit. Kicker sub and amp. GX rear bump stop and Energy Suspension front bump stop. FJ cruiser shift knob, rear molle panels, black paint climate control knobs. Trd Pro rack.
That looks like the extended range antenna.

I'm going to have to take out the glove box and root around till I find that cable because the OEM power
antenna is still operational. I've seen in-line signal boosters, and other signal boosters are replacing the
installed antennas. I really don't think it is plugged into the back of the original AM/FM CD radio.
I will also inspect the Viper module to see if there is a similar cable going into it.

Yes I did find out a lot when I looked under the dashboard. JT4RN is correct, it is an extended range antenna for
the Viper system. There is a good look in the photo where the C is where it enters the brain. This Viper system was made in May 2019 and there is no security like glass break sensor or alarm. It is a model 2101
