I'm experiencing what I believe is valve chatter is this normal? I just hit 260,000 miles I have the 4.7 v8. The oil is changed every 5000 miles if that helps

No, I don't believe Valve chatter is normal on those engines. Mine sounded like a brand new Cadillac at 257k. But, what you might be hearing is an exhaust leak at the manifold. The exhaust manifolds are notorious for cracking on the 4.7.

Ah ok. I plan on putting headers on it when ever I get some extra cash flow and true duals. I have a catalytic converter code I'll get fixed then as well thanks!

Are you planning on putting on a kit? Or, custom exhaust? It seems like an x- pipe is recommended with true duals.

With that many miles, it might be worth putting on a new cat. I believe magnaflow makes high flow cats that are reasonably priced. I haven't actually seen it personally, but I have heard that cats tend to clog up after a lot of miles.

I would do a custom exhaust for it with the x. Also I'm sure they do just like any filter they eventually plug up I would guess.

It certainly makes sense. That 4.7 is a glorious motor! I will not even pretend that I don't miss it. :D. And, the 1gr really isn't bad. It just doesn't have that amazing torque.

Unless the frame is rusting through, it's probably worth fixing. I kind of think the 4th gen is underrated. I love my 2019, but my '03 was the best vehicle I've ever owned. The current one still has time to prove otherwise, but It's going to take a while to change my mind.
