    New 4runner owner here, a 2015 SR5 Premium.

I will have no use for the valet key, valet parking isn't useful in the woods of southeast Indiana.

Can I cut the plastic off the key and keep the flat key in my wallet? Or is there a flat key blank I can have cut to match? I used a flat key blank to make a spare key for my Goldwing and I carry it in my wallet when I'm on the road. Having it saved the day at least once.

    Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind that immobilizer chip is in the fob at the end of the key so if you cut the blade off, it will still open doors, but it will not start the vehicle.

There’s photos of an H key cut open in the guide above and if it’s the same key, looks like the answer is yes. (but you’d need the immobilizer chip to start the vehicle)

I’d want to make sure my fingers have enough leverage to turn it in the keyhole before chucking it into my wallet.

Thanks for the responses. I'll leave the valet key unmolested, and I'll find a place to attach it somewhere on the frame.

Maybe look into a hitch safe or get a remote start system with phone unlock capability.

I have thought the valet key could be submerged in water without damage. I am thinking of beach outings!
It is certainly better sealed for dust/dirt/moisture.

I cut a Toyota Tacoma metal key without chip and hid it on the frame, but the chipped key kept inside - safer that way.
