I am hoping the community can give me some ideas. Picked up a 2003 V8 4x4 Limited 210k miles showing very even 125psi compression across all cylinders. No visible smoke or odor, plugs not fouling, no codes, doesn't overheat. Drove it 6 hours through the desert and the only thing weird it did was a fairly big coolant burp from the purge when we stopped abruptly at top of a mountain. Was alarming but no visible leaks and still had plenty of coolant, continued home with no other issues. Temp gauge dead center didn't move the whole trip before or after the burp.

Only other complaints I would have are exhaust tick (assuming cracked manifold) and some general sluggishness, but hard to say if that is just me being accustomed to the pep of the 2006 V6 4x2 and not the fulltime 4wd and general feel of the V8.

Changing thermostat and timing belt as preventive maintenance, but that 125psi just bothers me. If it were one cylinder would make indicate something but all cylinders?

Any ideas appreciated, I know you can't diagnose over the internet.

    Thanks, JNR

pull the coils so it wont roll over and hold the throttle wide open while you roll it over for compression check. I have seen in some instances a +50psi bump in WOT compression check in comparison to closed throttle compression check.

What caused you to do a compression check after you bought it?

125 is low I'm assuming it was done cold. Warm up the engine then try again.

On the lower side, but 125psi across the board sounds normal for 210k. Gotta expect some wear
