Someone is selling a set of K02s in 265/70/17 C with 18k miles and 12/32 tread left for $500. Are they worth it over a new set of Toyo AT3s?

Used tires can be a bargain, or not, depending on how rigorous the owner was about alignment. Luggy tires, like K02s, can be easily damaged by even slight misalignment. They develop tiny scuffs and cups that might not be obvious to the naked eye. When this happens one of the symptoms is road noise. On here, you’ll see complaints about such and such tires being noisy. It’s not necessarily the tires fault, depending on the brand. K02s are pretty quiet. What they sound like when they are new, should be what they sound like when they are 1/2 worn.
If the tires are visibly in good shape, and come off of a vehicle that is similarly well maintained, preferably a mall crawler, I’d take a chance on them for the cost savings.
