I'm driving a 2016 trail premium and can't find a USB port that will charge when key is off completely?

I have the same model and afaik, the one on the lower part of the dash-center (below the climate controls) is ACC/key on.
It would be up to you to wire in a "always hot" USB port. You pick the location that is convenient for you.
