I have had my 2005 Toyota 4runner Limited V6 for 5 years now. I love my yota but I am at 278,000 miles and things are starting to need replacing. This is my everyday family car and my car when I travel to the mountains, I live at FL beaches. I also work 5-6 days a week on the beachside with all that salt air just eating away at her. Anywho, about 4 months ago my 4runner started making weird noises while backing out of the driveway every morning. I kept telling myself its just moisture on the brake pads. However here I am 4 months later and the noise is loud and annoying. It happens every time I back up and I noticed recently while driving forward the noise is there just not as loud. I will attach a video so you can hear what I'm talking about. I just replaced the back brakes on Sunday 5 days ago. I thought okay maybe it’s the suspension but when I rock the vehicle it makes no noise. It only seems to make noise while moving. Any suggestions or advice on where to start, thanks in advance. In the video i go forward first then stop put it in reverse and back up.

So the noise is the high pitch squeak? It was hard to tell with the birds. If so, it’s telling that it stops when you stop. It also sounds like it speeds up as you speed up. Can you have someone else drive slowly while you walk around the car and try to isolate the sound? Or also, you can put the car on stands or a lift and put it in drive so everything is spinning. Runs few tests. RWD, then 4WD, shut the car off and put it in neutral and manually spin the wheels. As loud as that sound appears it should be easy to isolate.

Honestly it could be a number of things including a rock wedged in the rotor. If you could isolate a region, it would be helpful.

#2 you posted this in wrong section. This is for 2nd gen, not 4th.
#3 Haven't heard the sound but it could either be your wheel bearings, U-joints, driveshaft, or rear axle.
