So I have had my Nightshade 4runner for about a week now. Loving it. I test drove a ton of competitors in the same price range and I settled on the 4runner for all the normal reasons (capability, reliability, looks, etc) however I did not realize how much I would like the...

1)Full time 4wd. This is my first AWD and I don't think I could go back
2)Rolling down the rear window...I just drive around with everything open now. Might be my favorite part of the truck. Every SUV should have this it a no brainer

The rear window is awesome, but that little space between the shifter and cupholder...that's the truly underrated feature in this truck!

I think it's more than just features, it's also the superb execution of the overall vehicle and the apparent commitment to avoid cost-cutting. That sliding rear window and retractable wiper is incredibly expensive compared to the industry standard of sticking a little motor with fixed wiper in the hatch. If it rattled you'd hate that feature. It has six lug nuts per wheel. The clear coating on the wheels seems better than other vehicles. The consistency of the sheetmetal gaps is superb. The hood feels substantial yet easy to open and is held open with struts (no prop rod). The roof rails are metal, not plastic. One detail that blew me away are the little stickers with arrows that show you the quietest position for the crossbars. What a thoughtful touch; those stickers add cost...someone or something has to put them on.

    Congrats on your new vehicle.

SR5P.jpg Picked up my SR5P about a month ago and love it. Living in the Detroit area, I'm catching a little heat but I'm done with the domestic junk. Hands down, the rear window is waaaaay underrated. Kids think it's so cool and feels like driving a convertible. There are a couple features I would like but getting used to them, or lack of! I came from a brand new fully loaded Expedition, so reducing my investment by 50%, there are going to be features that aren't present.
3 things I would like to find a way around are:
    1. Automatic LED headlights (besides manually turning on)
1B. Main screen dimming very dark when LED's manually on
    2. All doors unlock with remote, not just driver.
    3. Vehicle accessory/battery mode without engine turned on.
These obviously are not deal breakers but it would be nice.
    Thanks!

Click unlock twice. There's also a vehicle setting related to this but I'm not sure it does exactly what you're after.

Press start button once (or twice for more functionality) without foot on the brake. Manual mentions it. I just found it two weeks ago and have used it a bunch testing sound system as I upgrade.

I believe under settings you can change to unlock all or unlock driver's only on first push of the fob or when touching the door handle. Also, just push the button without foot on the brake, there's accessory mode, push a second time without foot on the brake and there's battery power to out windows down or up etc

I have not used them as I have not been through a winter yet with the 4Runner but the rear side window defrosters seem like a fantastic idea.

I think those lines are for a defroster???

The roll down back window was big selling point for us. Funny story, wife's good friend has a Sequoia. Wife tells her about the roll down back window on the 4Runner. Her friend says what's that. Wife says just like on your Sequoia. Friend says mine does that?

1/1B not sure about the limited but there is a light sensor that can be put into the dash of certain models that will auto dim your dash. The limited might already have the sensor. Make sure you have wheel that controls your interior lights dialed all the way up but not "clicked" to the top. If you leave your headlights on and lock your vehicle, they will come back on, when you start the vehicle.

    2. Your dealer should be able to change the programming for you. That being said - with you living in Detroit, I'd recommend against that for security reasons. There are times you don't all 5 doors being unlocked - sketchy gas stations, city streets with bums everywhere, rest stops, sketchy neighborhoods. You want to control access to your vehicle. 1 click opens the driver door, 2 clicks opens up all the other doors & hatch.

    3. Others have covered that here.

I wonder if this sensor works for 2020+ or not but a nice trick for my 2018. It adjusts the headunit, meter cluster day time & night time mode regardless headlights are on or not.

Those lines in the quarter windows are the AM/FM radio antenna.
Besides the back glass, the lines in the lower part of the windshield are to defrost the wipers so they don’t freeze to the glass.

I thought they are just heating elements.

I was thinking that shark fin looking thing on the roof is the antenna.

The fin is for high speed stability.

It also doubles as the sat antenna.

The shark fin is for satellite radio.

One thing that I absolutely love about the 4Runner is that you can fold down the middle seat in the rear so you can have two people seated in the back and also carry surfboards, lumber, ect. Seems most cars just make it a 60/40 split bench seat. I really hope they keep this feature in the 6th gen.

There's a feature that you won't find in the manual that I would like to mention. Basically it's the feeling and smile I get every time I see my rig when I know I'm about to drive it somewhere. That IS a feature, right?

Mine splits 60/40 when I drop the seats but there is a handle on the back of the middle section where you can drop it by itself. Someone else pointed it out to me because I didn't know about it either.
