Did the TX Hill Country Trail this weekend, weather was perfect and my beers stayed cold! F0A5DEDA-C01D-42AB-A611-9040D63FF14E.jpg40E0C24A-BC67-41E5-BA02-E6CACBE52E1F.jpg

Thanks for the post Vince. Looks awesome and glad you guys had a good time. The weather was nice around Central Texas this weekend.

I grew up in Austin and never knew this trail existed! Will for sure look it up on All Trails and make it a point to go. Is it a series of unimproved county roads or does it go through private land? Really intrigued.

It is both. We used the onX app and it is a highlighted trail on there. Super easy, good views and just a nice little getaway. We camped on the llano river and a place call Dos Rios RV park. Sweet little spot with an awesome view!

Same here. Grew up in Austin and never knew this trail existed.

I got most of the info for this route off the Texas Overland Page on Facebook. It’s in their files section and plenty of people have done it. Cool little getaway!

Looks like a great place for a group ride for folks around Centex. Pack some food and drinks & make it a day.

Looks great. I’m up on the Red River, but go that way a lot. Have family in Bandera and my employer is based in Austin, definitely need to get that trail on my to-do list. Wonder if it’ll show up in GAIA. I’ll check and see, if not what’s the best resource for documentation of the TX Hill Country Trail?

I wanna say it’s on GAIA as well, it’s somewhat of a popular trail so I’m sure it’s been logged multiple times. The portion after dos rios is the better part in my opinion but it’s all a nice change of scenery for me since I live in corpus. Right now the water crossings were super low so almost the entire trail can be done in like a stock Subaru but it’s still fun to cruise around.

For those interested there are several videos of the trail on Youtube if you search for Hill Country Trail or Loop or Overland.
