I just purchased my second 4Runner. I got the 2019 TRD Pro that came with the rack. I've been looking at the Tepui Lightning https://tepui.com/products/white-lightning but it appears the stock rack on the TRD Pro won't be able to handle the weight of the lightning + a person sleeping in there. I see the weight limit on the TRD Pro Rack is 110 pounds evenly distributed.

Has anyone looked into buying hard shells from Tepui and have any advice on the racks + tent set ups? I love camping and this will be my first time with the Tepui Hard Shell and I want to make sure I do everything correctly. Thank you.

There are lots of threads on racks. I am looking hard at the LFD off road 7/8th's rack. No drill, covers most of the roof, and easy to install for a good price. I just don't know if I need a rack cuz I have a trailer. The 110 rating on the stock cross bars is for when you are moving (dynamic rating). Most tents already exceed 110.

You can get some better cross bars like those from Rago fab that I believe would be way better than the stock cross bars and should be ok with a tent.

Also with the tent you are looking at, it is long. You have to know how much of that tent can overhang with nothing underneath it because the stock rack is not long. Hope this helps.

I've been looking at the Baja Racks. I'm down in Northwest Florida, so also looking for a local option to purchase and install the rack. Just moved to Tallahassee December 1st.
