Hi everyone, I searched the forums to find this answer before posting. I see multiple posts saying that the Trd pro roof rack should fit on a 2018 4Runner sr5 premium even though Toyota will tell you it’s for specifically fits some 2019 models and newer. I went ahead and bought the rack from a local Toyota dealership, brought it to a place on Wednesday to have installed, and received a call saying that the roof rack wasn’t fitting. The guy told me that it bolted on as expected, which everyone has been saying it uses the same mounting holes as the roof rails. The guy explained that the issue was that there is a T shaped piece that bars from each side connect onto and that this was too short. I don’t have a picture on me currently, but can take one of the piece if need be. My question is has anyone experienced this issue when installing this roof rack on their 4Runner? I was feeling confident that it would fit, but never read of any issues regarding this. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions? I don’t know if Toyota will even accept the return and i would really like this roof rack. Thanks to anyone who responds!

I would think it should fit fine, nothing changed to the roof from 2015-on

Plenty of 4R owners have mounted this rack on a non-Pro model, so it is definitely doable. There are some differences in the mounting hardware between the two types of rack, so hopefully someone who did this will jump in here with some advice. Pictures of the hardware issue will be very helpful.

Here's an install video on a 2021, which shouldn't be any different from a 2018.

The video clearly shows what hardware comes with the Pro rack, so you can compare that to what you got with yours.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I watched the above videos and was able to install the TRD Pro roof rack myself. I'm not sure what the guy at the place I brought it to did wrong, but problem solved. I appreciate the help! Fingers crossed for no leaks even though I used the holes that the roof rails were attached to. I'm paranoid!
