TRD Pro owners, do you slow down for train tracks, speedbumps, etc.?

    I remember when the Ford Raptor first came out, I heard from multiple outlets that you don't even have to stop for speed bumps and the like, the suspension will just eat it up, which made me think that the TRD Pro trim is most able to take a hit, does anyone drive around so harshly on a daily basis?

    2013 with 129k on the original suspension, I don't slow down for that stuff.

    I got a super rough RR crossing that I sometimes cross going to work. It’s about 5 ft higher than the normal grade, wich happens in a really short ramp up. Sounds like a great recipe to get some air, but nope. The top flattens out for about 10 ft, and the tracks are sunk into that flat top. Result is, cars that go to fast will crash into the asphalt on the other side of the track, before dipping down off the hill the tracks are set it. Big ass gouges in the road on either side of the track. It’s brutal.

    First time I crossed was after I had installed my Dobinsons IMS. I didnt even think to slow down haha. The 4runner bashed it’s way through like a beast! Next time, I might just speed it up and do a sweet jump.

    Me personally drive the TRD Pro same way as my other 4Runners. I know the Pro suspension will not overheat as much as regular shocks with more oil inside the shock body driving on rough terrain for long time. On regular use I will drive as any other vehicle. Again I may be doing it wrong but I love my vehicles and take care of them. So only on rough terrain like gravel roads I keep a good safe speed without worrying about over heating the shocks. I 100% slow down when I seen an oncoming vehicle as there will be very limited control if I have to brake on gravel roads.

    Never. I enjoy hearing those fox shocks absorb it all. Gives em a nice little workout while inside the cabin is mild as hell

    I have a TRDOR and don’t slow down much for speed bumps, speed humps, etc. my kids think it’s fun lol and my runner has always handled them like a champ.

    I'm of the opinion that any DECENT 4WD shouldn't; nothing is more irritating than someone who has to stop for a speed bump, then proceeds at a snail's pace. However, you should hit it at a reasonable safe speed, not go flying over it. During winter, I see many cars, including 4WDs, high-centered on berms. Use your brains, not your gonads to decide!

    I have Bilstein 6112's and 5100's in back, so basically what the PRO had before they switched to Fox. I don't need to slow down for those things.

    Even when I swap for Kings, I'm going to slow down for speed bumps since there are other components that also take the hit. Ball joints, tie rod ends and CVs are some.

    Tell that to the 1st gen Tacomas/3rd gen Runners with ball joint failures or the continued inner fender cracking that started with the FJs and just happened to my buddy's 18 Runner TRDP.

    I have an SR5, so I come to a complete stop, lay down some plywood strips the width of my tires, then hop back in and proceed with caution over the tracks. I don't forget to grab my plywood before carrying onward.

    Im gonna assume you checked the plywood for splinters. No way the stock one-ply tires could take a splinter.

    Lies! Not on an SR5. Those tires are made of bicycle inner tubes and paper maché. ;)

    Seriously though, I stopped at a name brand tire store and asked for K02s. He said th at the 4runner required load E KO2s. I described what a 4runner looked like, how big it was, and that I had not installed a mounted/crewed AA gun, but he still insisted that load Es were required on 4runners.

    I don't think I'll get this crazy with the Runner. Nothing broke but still. Full Fox coilovers and shocks here with upgraded bumpstops.

    IMHO, what’s the point of unnecessary abuse whether the vehicle can take it or not?

    Now if I was being chased by a madman and feared for my life, then sure, I would blow right over the tracks or any other obstacle for that matter. Unfortunately in today’s world, this scenario is not outside the realm of possibility.
