    Hi-
I’ve had over 25 years a free TRD Pro Tundras, 2007 FJ Trail Team and now a 2017 TRD Pro. I also have had a 1979 FJ. I know Toyota’s well.
    Here’s my issue:
The TRD rims are unclean able and discolored. The drivers seat has a broken weld, any touch point on steering wheel, shift selector etc are worn out and looking like there are 200k miles on then. The drivers side door handle is loose at best and the key WILL NOT open any lock on the truck. I’ve contacted Toyota and have yet to revive a call back. I was contacted by San Francisco Toyota where the truck is serviced and they stated I could buy a new set of rims at a discount... The truck is driven locally, never bashed off road. Hunting and camping (Tahoe, BLM etc).
Any guidance or help would be welcome.
    Thanks!

Besides the door lock, it sounds like those items are just showing signs of wear and tear which isn’t something you can really warranty.

Well how many miles are on it? The locks and door handle would annoy me, but I think even if those other items were defective the dealership would just say that is normal wear and they didn't have to cover it.

What does the discoloration on the rims look like?

    Good luck.

From what I see, Toyota's refuse to die, but they start looking old and haggy real quick.

From my assumption, you have purchased this used?Being a 2017, a lot of these issues seem pretty drastic and premature for something fairly new?

He wants someone with "pull" to override override his apparently expired warranty for wear and tear items.

These are the worst wheels I've ever owned. Impossible to keep clean so I just beat the fuck out of them.

^ Which is why the Venture edition wheels are the best! :p I've yet to clean mine, and after 10000 miles they still look clean. My midnight black metallic paint? That's the complete opposite lol.

Lol...you should have seen the POS rims that came on my '06 Tacoma. Finish bubbled up and peeled off despite no abuse and regular cleanings. They were total trash within about 4 years.

So if it was documented why in the world do you keep accepting the vehicle back after service?

How close to the ocean does the truck live, or how often does it visit the salt air? How often do you wash it? Do you have a tendency to be a little hard on your equipment? At first blush......it sounds like it. :notsure:

lulz. If you don't clean the wheels, they will deteriorate. This happens on all vehicle wheels. The elements eat away at the finish.. brake dust, road dust, etc. etc. Your wheels look like they haven't been cleaned in ages. Or are you saying that's what they look like when "clean?" I mean, if they EVER got that dirty, I wouldn't expect them to go back to new status if that filth was left on for more than a few days tops.

What makes Venture wheels different / more "cleanable"?

Honestly I don't know what makes the black version "uncleanable," but the Venture wheels are the same color as brake dust practically.. dirt etc. just doesn't show much on them because they're a grey/silver color.

They can be kept decent with a little work. Get some Dr. Beasley's wheel cleaner and wheel sealant.

Lol 4Runners don't look right UNLESS they have dirt on them. My tail gate stays dirty no matter how much I wash it, so I just quit washing it but every month or so. The under carriage gets a blast from a power washer after trips off road is really the only consistent thing I do besides maintenance.

Try Sonax wheel cleaner with one of those long wheel brush designed to go into slots and holes.
