TRD Pro fox suspension kit question

I have been reading about the trd pro fox suspension kit from toyota. I am leani towards that solution for my 2021 ORP to get the pro performance and lift.

Having said all that, I have seen the kit between 2200.00 and 2500.00. Some say I need new uca, some don't mention it. So, my question is ....

If I go with the oem suspension kit, do I need the uca's?

Its waste of money spending for TRD Pro suspension. Better spend your hard earned money for a proper suspension setup.
Look at adjustable suspension systems like Kings, Elka. I've heard so many good things about Redflo as well.
Even the Toytec Aluma series have many good reviews and readily available.
So much more better options..

 

Just priced the Toytech and its more expensive than the trd pro fox suspension kit.

 

You don’t need aftermarket UCA’s for the pro suspension, it only lifts 1” if that I believe. I agree with the previous statement, you’d be better off spending $2500 on a good quality suspension. Nothing against the fox suspension, there is just much better options especially in the $2500 range.

 

The Fox suspension on the TRD pro is really good. There is just no real lift with it. One inch, front only. So basically leveled.

With an aftermarket setup you can get a mild lift in decent quality for the same money without too many components to change. Make sure it’s an actual upgrade though. Too many go with cheap suspension just to get a lift and make the car ride much worse.

 

If your adding the Pro fox suspension switch the springs out to the new Eibach springs. You will be lifted to run 285’s and you will get a better handling and ride vehicle.

 

Slow down and take time for your research. A high-end setup is not far from your budget. Here's how much I paid for ELKA 2.5 diameter body dual adjustable setup. All I want to say is sped you money wisely than a poor TRD Pro setup.




Single adjustable Kings are almost same price as my ELKAs.


Even these Toytec Aluma 2.5 better than TRD Pro Fox.

 

you can find the Trd Fox suspension on the market place here or your local ebay craigslist and can get them anywhere from $800. to $1400. there was a guy that just sold a whole set front and back for $700. great deal no need to change UCA either here is Video of a guy that takes a 2020 Trd Pro through Baja and reviews the 4R and the suspension a lot good Info on the video

I have the Trd Fox setup and can say its pretty nice setup and you can add spacers or change the springs to get a little more of a lift if needed
Suspension It all depends what you'r going to be doing with your rig

 

You can say as many things right as you want, repeating this makes you a non-trustworthy source (to phrase it VERY politely).

 

I would assume you do not to upgrade your UCA. To verify, look at the 2021 pro and see if there is any difference between it and the 2021 ORP

If you're willing to pay $2500 for the PRO setup, you could pay a little more and get Fox 2.5's, or 2.5" Kings, Elka, Radflo.. There are a lot of options in that price range.

 

correctomundo. no uca. the trd pro suspension gives about an inch lift in the front.

 

Looking at the fox 2.5 as an option. My concern is that they are set to 2" and I don't know what that will do to my pre collision system along with my KDSS. Also, what do i put in the rear?

 

Spc UCA
King front and rear shocks
Icon 52700 rear springs for 2” of rear lift. Adjust front to level out.

this will be roughly 3300-3600 depending where you buy from.

I definitely recommend calling @showstoppersusa and telling them you budget and what you’re looking to get out of it and they can help you.

also your kdss will be fine. They make kits specifically for kdss and your pre collision will be fine. I’m about 3”+ in the front and have zero issues.

 

You'd be fine with 2" and KDSS. And, you can get 1", 1.5", or 2" rear springs to get the stance you want.

Or, do like @Antman and go full Kings!

 

You can adjust them lower than 2".

 

Check out @Oldtoyotaguy and his Elka setup. Looks like a superb set up and just what you’re looking for. The fronts are adjustable. There’s a great thread here talking about the Elka’s. And I think they’re in your price range and much higher quality than the Pro’s.

 

Im about 99% sure the TRD pro fox shocks for the 4runner dont give you ANY lift at all. Its the same ride height as the TRD off road. I believe the Tacoma TRD pro is lifted 1" though... which may be the reason for the confusion.

source? all the data (approach angle, ride height, etc) say otherwise. According to Toyota ground clearance across all models is 9.6" and approach angle is 33* Cant find anything that says TRD pro is higher. I would assume Toyota would advertise this if the TRD pro was in fact lifted!

 

You can see a slight lift on the TRD Pro if you zoom compared to my stock SR5 even though the specs on ground clearance, approach, departure angles are same.

Are the TRD Pro front UCA's the same part (number) as the TRD OR front UCA's?

Are the struts and shocks found in the TRD Pro 4Runner "linear" by design? Looks like they're monotube?

I have no doubt that the TRD Pro suspension is great, but I also agree that, if I was looking at spending $2500, I'd be looking at other top-of-the line options instead. Or, with care, I can imagine a setup which costs far less and performs just as well as the TRD Pro OE setup.

All that said, as I search for a mild lift myself, there don't seem to be a lot of options for inexpensive (fixed) lifts that don't raise the front upwards of 3 inches. I guess the manufacturers have found a correlation between light pockets and "stunting."

I'm trying to avoid an adjustable front for various reasons and it's seeming difficult.

Settled on the 2.5 fox factory series. Now I just need to find someone who has them in stock.

Sadly during this time it takes some wait time for good things. Hope you understand its better to wait for something good rather than spending twice.

On another note have you decide are you going to go with 2.5 non adjustable ones or 2.5 adjustable ones? What UCA you are going to use? Total Chaos/ SPC, etc.. Start your search on those items as well which will help you when placing your order.

Its my personal choice I chose adjustable kit so I can adjust according to the terrain.

 

Spoke with fox. Going with 2.5 coilover non external res on the front and 2.5 with res on the rear. May leave at 2 inch up front or drop it to 1.5. Not doing uca since the lift is minimal.
