Since Dex II is no longer made, what do you use as a replacement?

    Replaced EGR vacuum modulator!
Cut and pasted this from a 2013 post:

Here are a couple of suggestions:
    1) Walmart "High Mileage" ATF is meant for Dex II/III specs
    2) Castrol Import ATF, again, designed to meet Dex II/III specs
    3) Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF , Designed as a high bred Dex III, serious stuff!
I've used all of the above, including Valvoline, and M1 seems to be the best out of the bunch, but price reflects that. It's more important to frequently change it out, to keep the fluid clean(and the level correct). I just did our 1990 with the Walmart atf and used the M1 syn atf to flush out the p/s fluid. If your running the V6 with 4WD, drop both plugs, and refill should be 4.8 qt.s. Warning here, do not over fill. Best of luck with it.
    regards

I believe Toyota uses Valvoline, I've always used Valvoline everything and all my vehicles have hit near 200k, or more miles

Which Valvoline do you use? I checked all their specs and they say none are compatible for 2nd gen. V6 autos.

So basically anything that says dex III or Dex/Merc should be good?

Yep. Any Dex III has everything that DEX II does, plus some more stuff.
