Wondering if anyone has had this problem.
Discount Tire replaced one of my TPMS sensors on my 2021 4R. (I should have gone to the dealer)

The dealer said they couldn’t program it and I needed to go to the dealer. The dealer said they couldn’t program it because it is aftermarket.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get this programmed so the tire light will go out? (Besides next time go to the dealer)

Each sensor has a specific serial # that has to be loaded into the trucks computer(thus replacing the one that was removed). Discount tire should have a reader that allows them to access the serial numbers without popping the bead on the tire(s). Anyone with the appropriate software can add the new sensor #, a dealer or repair shop. As to whether its being aftermarket makes a difference? I can't answer that, but I would lean on Discount tire for the answer, and if the one they provided won't work, they need to order you an OEM sensor. To do so they need to use your vehicles VIN #.

I thought there was a "change wheel" option in the user control panel on the newer trucks that would pick this up?

As best I know Toyota now has a sensor that will auto detect. However, they, to the best of my knowledge, are not on the runner, yet. So, manual entry of the sensors ID# still has to be performed.

So went back to DT this morning and magically they got it programmed. May have been technician error.

He said he unlocked the sensor and it programmed right away.

Either way all good. Thanks y’all.
