Toyota (smartpath) purchase online? Anyone with experince?

Hi all,
new to the forum.

Does anyone have experience on buying 4runners or any other Toyota vehicle on their Toyota.com site thru "smartpath"? It says if you see a vehicle you like that is from a dealership with the "smartpath" icon, you can basically start the buying process online with the the dealer advertised price shown on the screen. (they say its about "Transparent pricing and financing")
I asked a local dealer about this "smartpath" option and referenced a TRD PRO I was interested in. The sales rep fumbled around for a second and said "most" vehicles can be bought by the advertised price, with the exception of the TRD PRO. Really? Is this legit? so they can pick and choose which vehicles they will allow or not? Seems pretty sketchy if you ask me...but I'm a newbie in this realm.

I would think if this is something directly from Toyota, they would show equal footing across all their vehicles...

Anyone have insight to this?
