Hi folks, I would like to know your experience with tire wear pattern. My current setup on my 6 months old 4runner for summer is stock wheels with toyo at3 tires, and my winter setup is steel wheels with toyo observe gsi6 ls. I was wondering, I haven't noticed anything on my summer setup, but my winter wheels have been on for about 5000 km. The tire pressure recommended by toyo for these tires on the 4runner is 33 psi, and I am OCD so check the pressure very often like 2 weeks max, and with sudden temperature changes. My question is, there is no excessive wear on them, but the rear tires seems to wear off faster on the center of the tire, and the front one on the edges. Is it common? I'm guessing the truck is indeed heavier in the front so, it seems logical that there is less weight on the rear tire and it would act like they are overinflated in comparison to the front one? Again, no excessive wear, I noticed it because the factory little nipples on the tire is the only thing that wore off... In the front I still have them in the center thread, and in the back, it's on the edges... Tires are measuring 12/32 on all 4. What are your thoughts? Thanks for your time and sorry for my English.

Sounds like your rear tires may be slightly over filled for carrying no weight and under filled in the front since its heavier in the front. Overfilling with air will cause more wear in the center of the tire tread and underfilling with air will cause extra ware on the outer edges like you thought.

    Are you rotating every 5-10k?

I would definitely bump the front to ~35psi and stop checking so often. lol

They got 5000 km on them, and I'm about to switch to my summer wheels soon, probably in 2-3 weeks so maybe in a 1000 km.. the door sticker calls for 32 psi on all 4s, and toyo for this model tires call for 33... I assumed the truck was ment to be run same psi front and rear, so it will probably level out next winter when I'll switch tire front to back?

It is my first time with winter tires on a truck, generally I was running at tires with the snowflake all year round and rotating every 5000 km. Rear one going front, and front crossing to the back.. but these winter tire are directionnal so, they will stay on the same side on the truck

Snows do wear a bit fast and odd, so could be just that. PSI is a little variable, so a few pounds one way or another does not make a big deal but can help with your OCD concern.
