Thinking of buying a 06 4runner

Hello everyone I am new to the forum and I am happy to be here!

The family that has had it has repaired anything that’s it needed and taken good care of it. Its been mostly highway miles. It has the V6 which has the timing chain to my knowledge and I’ve heard you don’t really have to replace those but Toyota says to do it around 200,000 miles. Just looking for some good advice if I should consider buying and how much? Right now they have come down from $7900 to $6900.Thank you all so much!

 

What is the mileage? 4X4 or 2WD? Which model? Any rust? And welcome.

 

260k miles 2wd sr5 and I didn’t see any rust. I did take some pictures I’ll try to post them.

Welcome!! Location is also pretty important. In comparison, I purchased an 06 V8 4x4 with 160k for 9995, last year (many variables I know). Single owner all maintenance records, also Sports edition with faux leather yada.. best of luck and welcome again!!

looks way better than my 06 Trailblazer and I bet it's light years ahead for reliability. I don't know what book value is on it but looks good to me

 

Looks really clean but with those miles, 2wd, and an sr5, I would try to get it for less then 6k.

 

Are the 4wd worth it if you don’t really need but for random snow storms here and there? Do they break down some and cause expensive repairs?

 

You need to do a bit more maintenance on 4wd but issues with the systems are rare. If you do see snow then I would definitely get 4wd but if you can get this one cheap, chains would do for the rare snowfall.

 

Thats great truck for florida.....lots of 2wd 4 runners down there. My uncle has a 2000 w/ 260k miles......zero rust
