Started looking almost a year ago. Trying to find or order an ORP with options I wanted (KDSS, Moonroof, and MTM camera). Had a deposit at more than one dealer, nether of which ever came thorough after many months. Looked at a used 2022 with 8K in Jan but passed on it because was uncomfortable with mods done (Mostly the lift) as the ride suffered badly. Then I found this 2023 certified preowned with 500 miles (Yes just 524 m) a week ago. 2 years 10 1/2 months left on factory plus the 7-year/100,000 powertrain. And it cost several thousands less than MSRP that I was going to originally pay for.

I even know where it came from new as saw it listed online near my daughters college about 500 miles away from where I live. I had joked with my wife that when we went to pick here up in mid August. I wanted to go to the dealer and see if it was real. But it dropped off the listings before I drove down to get her. Then I found it for sale as used originally titled just a month ago with 500 at a dealer near home.

Very nice. Perfect color and packaging, congrats.

As I was shopping I couldn’t decide between red and white. But moonroof and MTM were a must for me. When my red car finally arrived, it didn’t have a moonroof, and I fumed. But I was also relieved, because I wasn’t sure, I kind of wanted white more.

Then I found a perfect white one, ORP, moonroof, with the rock sliders, TRD wheels, all terrain tires, black emblems, muffler black trim, etc - and a bunch of interior goodies like LEDs, and so forth. For a solid $5k under MSRP, fresh off the delivery truck with no miles on it. It was a hell of a deal. And a killer price on my trade. I’m surprised they even made a dime on this sale.

My compromise was, no MTM. I snagged it, no regrets.

I also considered the TRD Pro, which would have had everything I want. But not really, here’s why:
    - The price! At near $56k MSRP vs the $46k msrp of the ORP, we are talking a solid $10k.
    - It’s fine if the lemon is worth the squeeze to you, but for me it wasn’t. I still would have had to remove the roof rack and exhaust at a minimum. And while maybe I wouldn’t have gone as far as swapping the suspension, I much prefer the more comfortable ride of the ORP.
    - On top of that, at least in my area TRD Pros were marked up, while the ORP was marked down. Making the difference in real life near $25k difference. With the $8k markup of the pro and $5k markdown of the ORP plus the base MSRP difference we were at $41k vs $63k.

It was an interesting shopping experience to say the least.

To this day, my favorite option of white, ORP, moonroof + MTM and no KDSS has not showed up.

The one that did, was not in my color (it was black) and had KDSS which I specifically didn’t want.

The moral of my story, it’s really hard to find the exact model one wants because of how Toyota builds, allocates and how many people are probably going to want to snag it. Especially finding it for the right price.
