The official 40th Anniversary Special Edition thread.

I noticed we have threads for other colors and even the Pro's get their own thread, but the 40th Anniversary needs its own thread.

So, if ya' got one (in red, black or white), post up the pictures and show it off.

 

Of the three colors I wanted red but settled with a black example. Purchased new three weeks ago. I had the dealer install Bilstein shocks front and rear to level the rake somewhat. The wheels needed balancing from the get go as the steering wheel had a shake at about 63 mph. Also added vent shades to the windows and a wind deflector out front. I’m still waiting for the front and second row Husky floor liners I ordered back in August - will be produced this week I’m told. It has Toyota trail running boards.

I removed a 70x44” aluminum ARB roof rack from my 08 4R had it re-powder coated and will install that on the 23 this winter. I installed that rack back in 2010, never had an issue with leaks.

I might add another front grille 40th decal stripe up front on the RH side to mirror the OE example and give the look more symmetry.

 

Anyone happen to know the part number for the rear garnish for a 40th anniversary edition?

No, the whole rear “garnish panel”. Preferably black with bronze lettering, just like the one below.

I don’t want to mimic a 40th anniversary with any other badging, just personally think the bronze overlays look better with MGM, but apparently the bigwigs at Toyota corporate didn’t agree!

@Borracho Loco I was wondering is the front color matched grill garnish a slip over piece like the black Pro one? I can't seem to find a part number for a color matched one. I'm thinking they may have taken the Pro garnish and color matched it during painting the whole vehicle without creating a new part number.

 

I'm a little confused by what you're asking? Are you asking me if the kit has the front emblem color matched also or are you asking if the 40th Anniversary comes with a color matched front emblem?

I guess that doesn't matter? Because the answer is yes to both. The "TOYOTA" lettering on the front is bronze. I don't know if it's an overlay or not, but it probably is.

If that's the case, you could buy after market blacked out ones, paint them bronze and slap them on your ride.

 

From what I'm seeing you can only get that panel in the black pro. There are no listings for painted heritage panels like there are with the upper grill.

You can see you can order the upper grill already painted but there is only one option for the nameplate panel and it's the pro version

 

Yeah that is what I saw on their site too. Was hopeful as it lets you choose the 40th as a trim option in the search.

 

And if you were doing the bronze overlays, you'd probably want the oem panel if you didn't have it already to ensure they fit over the letters. Not the cheapest route but the best way for what you're looking to do

 

If I do it I'll probably take my reproduction garnish and remove the letters, have the garnish color matched red and then paint the letters matte black to match the side and rear emblems.

 

I went the oem but used route haha. Took me a bit to source it all but got decent deals on all of the parts. I think I ended up buying the upper grille new but got that on sale so it wasn't too bad. Good luck with yours!

I feel like all MY23 should have had this badge. If mine was a 23 I probably would have added it. I guess I could put one that says 39th anniversary but it doesn’t sound as good lol

 

I disagree. It would be like me slapping the Pro emblem on my truck. It's not a Pro, so I won't misrepresent it as such. The 40th badge is a full trim package and adds specific features that other trim levels do not get.

It was also a very limited run (supposedly). There are only 4,040 40th Anniversary Editions. I bet they made 10k Pro models for that year.

 

The badge just says 40th anniversary. Which by definition makes it valid for all 23MY.

it’s not like slapping an M badge on a bmw that doesn’t have an M engine. Same for an AMG Mercedes for example.

And I’m not talking about changing the whole truck and calling it a special edition like the 40th anniversary. Just a badge that says 40th anniversary. If the badge said 40th anniversary special edition then I’d agree with you
