If we don’t get a new 4Runner…this Lexus GX550 is going to be one huge upgrade with a 3.4L V6 twin turbocharge engine and a whopping 349HP and 479 lb-ft of torque. And if that’s not enough, the towing capacity is at 8,000 pounds.
I’m digging the ruggedness, style and design that Lexus engineered with this GX!!!

I’m a huge fan of the exterior design, can’t wait to see what they have in store for the 4Runner.

I'm torn between the GX550 and the new 4th gen Tacoma TRD Pro but I'm leaning towards the GX because it has everything I want on a vehicle minus a bed. Time to retire the old Tacoma.

    4Runner replacement?

I guess if the cost of 2 4Runners does't matter, sure.

Well, if the 4runner doesn't come into production the GX would be an option for those who can afford it.

After them changing the tacoma and making it more offroady . I definitely think a new 4runner is coming out. I mean they ditched the land cruiser in the states and resigned the sequioa. There has to be an actual midsized suv made by toyota. I bet it'll look similar to that lexus just 10k cheaper

Might not be the 300 series but probably a LC Prado version.

Wouldn’t surprise me if it scratches 100 with top trims/options… Heck the new stretched Highlander tops out a hair under 60.

If they follow past trends, I could see the 4Runner build on the same frame with the 2.5 hybrid max power train etc. could be very nice.

Sequoia a hard sell, here in western Pa you cant find one on a lot ! When we sell 4Runner in spring we are looking at the Sequoia and Audi Q7 as a replacement.

I don't really think it looks like a Lexus but I do really like the design and the features. I see a little bit of Nissan in the front, and Jeep Wagoneer in the rear. Neither one are bad looking vehicles, so overall I do really like the design. I just think this looks purposely designed to be an off-roader, in contrast to the previous gens.

The powertrain sounds great, 479 foot pounds is going to be amazing. It's unfortunate that the 4Runner probably won't get this as the top option power plant.

WAY out of my budget now, but maybe in 10 years or so I'll be able to pick one of these up used.

I think new car prices are totally out of whack. I paid ~35K for top trim honda suv in 2015. It is hard to imagine how things have changed since then.
The vehicle is obviously very nice but I think this will be too expensive. Just don't like spending this much on a vehicle.

Can't agree more. Dealerships (specially, Ford, Chevrolet, Jeep etc) are still having insane markups on their vehicles even after covid, whats the excuse now??? Although Toyota have some markups from the msrp, is not as ridiculous as other dealerships.

Supposedly the car dealers and their market adjustments are one of the main drivers of our current inflation, since they raised prices and kept raising through and after the pandemic.

The dealers will likely keep doing it as long as it continues to work.

Inflation does not increase when sellers just want more, for goods they sell. Higher car prices are a byproduct of supply chain issues OEMs faced during pandemic. They did not decide to increase car prices one fine day, all in unison, causing rise in inflation.
I don't work with the fed but in my mind it was due to free money this administration, and the last, pumped into the economy. Guess we know now what americans do with free money -- buy more stuff!!!

I have been wrong before, take it for what its worth!

I agree, but wasn't that the point of the free money? To buy stuff and "stimulate" the economy so it keeps going and doesn't come to a screeching halt?

But to your point, they overcooked it and gave away too much. Now we're dealing with the repercussions.

stimulate economy was the end goal. But causing high inflation was not.
I 100% think they gave away too much. for folks who were qualified to receive it, spending it was the way to go. I called it out that this will cause inflation to anyone who'd listen. Sadly no one who writes bills that turn into laws was listening ;)

True, it takes two to tango, and the dealers wouldn't continue to charge a lot if people weren't buying. However, many companies have continued to charge elevated prices well after supply chain issues stabilized. Many companies are reporting record profits this year, so they're not just raising prices to cover costs.

Agree that the stimulus checks also didn't help the situation.

Also, in retrospect, I think the interest rates should have been addressed starting in 2020, as that's when property values started to go crazy. Instead now, we have insane prices and insane rates, where we could have had moderate levels of both if it wasn't allowed to go crazy for two years.

Looks good to me. Glad they didn't go with an "oversize" front grille mesh. Hope the same effort goes into the 4Runner.
