    4Runner Pro's!
To anyone who has experience with a new suspension lift squawking from front right, or left side please let me know.

I just had a 6112 Bilstien suspension lift installed and alls well, but!, the front right has a annoying squawking sound over bumps, and when breaking as the truck returns to level.

4WP claims it could be a under lubricated upper control arm zert/bushing... or, as I suggested a bad shock

I trust the mechanic's knowledge to install the lift per spec, but he said they all squawk until the lift has had enough time to settle in after 10 days.

I said look, get rid of the squawk...its a new 4Runner.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks.

Upper control arms. Mine had issues with the bushings and caused squeaking with braking, or anything that caused the front end to dive forward.

They gave me issues within a few months, I wouldn’t be surprised but I have SPC which are known to have some issues with the bushings that are now corrected. Not sure if you have OEM or aftermarket. If aftermarket you could call and ask for guidance.

No experience with front end noise, but I had a clink/groan rear spring noise that I developed about 6,000 miles after I installed my Dobinsons IMS suspension. It was entirely my fault, because I sprayed woolwax on the spring seat. This allowed the spring to shift the tiniest amount when flexing a bit, causing a springy sounding clink. I sprayed the seats down with brake cleaner, and that seems to have solved the problem. If it comes back, Im going to take out the springs and clean the seats .

Moral of the story: My suspension install was quiet as a mouse for 6000 miles, maybe because I cleaned everything well before install. Components like to be installed with every mating surface clean as a whistle and dry. And everything torqued down to spec. Grit or grease on a mating surface can cause sounds, as I proved with my woolwax mistake.

This might not be your problem, but something to think about. Hate to say it, but try to track down the problem, find a way to replicate it with your ears near the source (have someone rock the truck back and forth with you under it, or at least near the sound). If you can replicate the sound and give them a reasonable guess as to source/cause, it will cut down on the back and forth with the mechanic. In an ideal world they would do that for you, but you know how that goes.

If you have poly bushings in your aftermarket upper control arms, try a synthetic silicone based grease, poly bushings like silicone based grease. We have JBA's and this is what they suggested to avoid moaning and groaning UCA bushings..... it works.

I wish it were that easy for everyone.

Icon UCA's my passenger side is 100% quiet no noise at all. Drivers side has been a pain in my ass for months.

I replaced the bushing and used the recommended grease by Icon and its not a squeak, its a freaking squeal at any low speed bump. Re-greased re-torqued and still. If I didn't toss my stock suspension and up size the tires I would of dumped these POS things already. Probably going to try another UCA since the wife wants to keep the lift.

Man if I got a new squeak/groan/tick I probably wouldn’t notice it. Hehe

It's this. Rain causes the noise to rise up. You need to loosen the nut on the UCA bushing bolt, *then* pump in the *silicone grease* in the zerk fitting.

I have the same issue! I also just recent upgraded to 6112’s and 5160’s. It seems to squeak when it rocks side to side at a slow pace. I primarily hear it on the left rear side…
