Going to go trd pro and will end up selling in 5 years or so once 6th gen has bugs ironed out.
Which color would be better for resale? I like terra and underground the same.

Terra, it's more unique than Underground.

I'll never sell my Lunar Rock 4R, but if I absolutely had to I know I would definitely get more for it than what I paid for it.

Either one you want to look at for 5-6 years. They'll both be the only year Pro of that color

Today I would buy terra over underground, but in 5 years when you buying a used T4R color probably would be your last consideration.

I personally prefer Underground and would call it “safer” for mass appeal but I’m sure others will appreciate Terra more. I’d expect not too much difference.

I know my SO shot down Lime Rush instantly but don’t know about Terra.

If it matters, buyers like me dislike prius colors that came to 4runner in some years. Since Terra color doesn't give prius vibes I don't mind. Out of the 2 Underground would be my preferred choice. Either way after 5 years with miles the price difference may not be a big deal but a TRD Pro would have a hefty depreciation with its high price tag and things get worse if markup is paid on top of msrp.

Other trims normally have discounts from msrp around here, atleast from what I see at dealership near me when I go there, even though they have less kbb value depreciation maybe not as bad.

IMO, either of those colors may not be a big deal.

I saw a Terra on the road the other day and thought it looked fantastic.

I personally am not a big fan of underground, every time I see it something doesn’t do it for me. I feel the same about lunar rock but everyone loves that color. It’s all subjective.

I am not of fan either but I definitely would avoid Terra personally. That looks like an old man Brown Buick color to me (just me though).

You may want to hang onto it at that 5 year mark anyway after today’s announcement that 50 percent of new cars sold must be electric by 2030. So pick something you like.

If resale is a primary concern, I suspect it would be easier to keep Terra looking its best than Underground.

I would go Terra. But have heard they’re just as slow to move as lime rush, which is not a good indicator.

My local Toyota dealer posted an ad for their Terra TRD Pro, similar to what they did for lime rush. Meanwhile, solar octane, army green, etc. were accounted for before they even arrived at the dealer.

But like the Tundra, I think the nostalgia for the 5th gen will set in when the new one comes out and any last model year TRD Pro will hold its value extremely well, especially the exclusive color ones.

It'll be a wash. Once 6th gen bugs are ironed out, fewer people will want a 5th gen.

I don’t see demand for a 5th gen waning down, probably ever. These things are special beyond belief.

^Demand is waning already. 2024 4Runners are sitting on dealer lots marked down $6k

I’ve seen these videos, and they’re a snapshot of time. Yes, two months ago my dealer had a lot of them as well (mostly SR5s most of the time). Today, they’re all gone. But I can replay that video over and over again :)

I would not worry about resale on the 5th Gen. Because when Toyota releases the new design 4runner you are going to pay big dollars for the new design. Just my opinion. I have been trading my 4runner Pro’s every 3 years and making out really well. Been driving them since the early 80’s. Yes my 4runner Pro’s have all been paid for when I trade but this time I’m keeping my 23 Pro as of now. No reason for the new design and it paid for.

I don't really think it matters, but personally I like Underground. I liked Terra until I finally saw one in person. I did not like it at all.

Anecdotally, I'm seeing a lot of comments on YT reviews from people saying Terra is ugly.

I'm also thinking since underground is a regular color you may easily find touch up paint in part store. For both my White and Silver I just went to Autozone and bought touch up paint.

    This.
I was in the same boat as you. I wanted that exclusive year PRO color, but couldn't get past the fact that (to me) Terra looks like poop when not in direct sun light. Solar Octane is beautiful, but I suspect I would get tired of it in a couple months - also I doubt it would pass muster of my SO. I really like Lunar Rock, but the lack of the last tech bits (and the prices dealers were asking for 30kmiles ones being close to a brand new one) killed it for me.

To me the prime of all PRO colors is in direct sunlight. The trick is how they look when NOT under the sun. I ended up going underground because when I saw the color I really liked it both under the sun or not. On top of that, with the 6th gen coming and Toyota spilling out the exclusive PRO color to the next year non-PRO models, it will end up being another exclusive color for the 2024 PRO (much like Barcelona red was for the 2017 PRO - which had cement as exclusive).

Also, I will say that when I was searching for my underground calling a bunch of dealers and saying F...it to the ones charging mark ups, they had a whole lot of Terras available, but rarely an underground that was not pre-sold. More than one said to me they would do MSRP in the Terra ones, but not the Underground. Just saying... it may reflect a future trend.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
It’s the only color I would’ve picked over AG.

Maine just had some environmental commission vote on this yesterday and thankfully there were smart and said Maine is not ready for this and they don’t feel it’s ok to limit folks choices.

It's a personal choice and everyone's replies in here is their personal choice. Get the color you like best because it's not really gonna have any affect on resale value. For me that was Terra. Unique color that I think looks fantastic. Underground is just another blah gray in a long line of blah grays lol.

I would say get the color you like best. Biggest positive you will have going for you on resale will be that it is a PRO.

In 5 years no one will remember these lame marketing names. A poop-brown 4Runner and bluish-gray 4Runner won't have materially different resale value.

Y'all know what Toyota's official name for the "Quicksand" color is in Mexico? Beige...

The problem is that Terra will be a color that only appeals to a small target audience. With Underground, it’s available in all trims including the Pro, so not a unique Pro color.

The Pro colors that will retain their value will be the ones that weren’t available in other trim levels such as Voodoo Blue and Cavalry Blue.

These also spilled to other trims/models. A quick google search will return images of other trims/models in these colors and also quicksand. To my knowledge, Toyota did not spare any PRO exclusive colors. Unless we are talking 4Runners only (and not Tacos, Ravs, etc), but then not sure it makes any difference.
