I was in a minor accident today. No one was injured and both our vehicles are drivable. To be honest, neither me nor the other guy is sure who is at fault.

When we pulled over we both said "We'll let our insurance companies fight it out." Then we exchanged info and left. The whole thing was over in 10 minutes.

Here's the video so you guys can tell me who you think is at fault.

That is a tough one as the opponent seemed to be moving quicker when you merged to the center. Will probably be a no fault, One would guess.

How bad was the damage to your driver front?

From the video it appears you were really close to the Rav4 in front of you and you got brake-checked. You swerved to avoid rear-ending that car and sideswiped the black Camry. So I would say you were at fault based on what I can see. The only thing that's hard to confirm is if you and the Camry were both switching lanes toward each other. Not that this would matter.

You were at fault, you switched lanes when there wasn't a clear lane for you to do so!

You crazy delusional if you don’t think you’re at fault.

you were tailgating, got impatient and quickly switched lanes to go around.

here’s a tip: if you want to go faster than traffic, stay in the left lane. What you did was dumb.

That's the thing, we both switch lanes. I didn't change lanes into him. I change and he changed. I know I was riding the ass of the car in front of me. I kind of think I'm at fault, but when I slowed down the video I noticed the Camry wasn't already in the lane. He merged into it also.

I guess the insurance companies will make the final decision and I'll live with it.

If you had a 360 dash cam this would've been supportable. The Camry driver could tell his insurance co. he was already in his lane and moved left a bit in attempt to avoid you.

You can trim away the damage. Some people even give it cute names like "viper cut".

Do you know what the 4 second rule is? Apparently not.

You were tailgating and caused this accident. Why would you even think you weren't at fault? Man up and take your medicine...

Hmm. Tough one. It looks like his turn signal was on. Was yours?

Glad it was minor with no injuries. Sorry it happened to you, and on Christmas Eve too…

Yup, I have. I even provided them with the video link. So they can determine if I'm at fault or not.

Edit: I did have my blinker on. The Camry did not. If I'm found at fault I'll accept it and move on. Lesson learned.

I am not sure who is legally at fault but you were on top of that dude and it’s unfortunate. We have all done this or at least I have too in my day and I’ve been lucky.

Fortunately your damage is minor and you’re all ok. Be thankful you did not total your 5th Gen like another dude this fall.

Merry Christmas Loco try not to worry about they can fix that up!

Tailgating and trying to close the gap for merging traffic on your right, not a smart move.
Maybe you didn't see the 3 blink lane change signal from the Camry.
A drivers side convex mirror would have helped... if you looked at it.

Some dude did this to me on my way home from the airport last year. You saw him just a tiny bit in the corner of the mirror but you still kept merging left.

Thanks. I've shrugged it off. It's minor damage, no one was hurt and both vehicles are still drivable.

Edit: I'm willing to accept all positive, negative and constructive criticism. Give me your best, or worst.... I know I wasn't driving my best and could have done better.

WTF, a lot of people call that tailgating? He was a respectable distance until the moron in front of him hit their brakes. It's on the people merging into interstate speed traffic to find a way in. Not for interstate drivers to come to a stop to let them in. This is the stupid kind of driving that causes traffic jams and apparently accidents as people try to find a way around them.

As far as who is at fault, that's a tough one. You both appear to be changing lanes at the same time. If he didn't have a signal on but you did, I'd say he's at fault for not signaling his intentions

The most important thing, just ease back and enjoy the ride. Over my years, many things have incrementally slowed my driving and reduced my aggression - marriage, kids, loss of loved ones, etc. My 4R is the perfect relaxing vehicle for me. We don't want to see you get in a real wreck and get hurt.

You say the Camry didn't have his blinker on, in your video it clearly shows his blinker being on at the time of impact.

I thought that at first too. Then I slowed the video down. My head lights were on (and my blinker). The glare you see is my head lights reflecting off his tail lights. He does put his signal on after we made contact though.
