Anyone tried swapping Tacoma differentials into their 4R? I read they have 4:30s which would be perfect for bigger tires. What it should have had. I'm assuming front diff swaps and rear chunk does, but not taking it to Vegas.

Don't quote me but I believe the rear diff is different. You could always order a built 3rd member and clamshell from ECGS and install them.

According to the ECGS page, the front diff between 3rd gen Tacoma and 4Runner/2nd gen Tacoma are not interchangeable: https://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-157223-tacoma-fj-4runner-8-reverse-ifs-clamshell.html

3rd gen Tacoma rears with the 4.30 gears are 8.75", won't fit in the smaller 4Runner axle housing.

I was looking at ring and pinions and I saw 8.2 and 9.5 inch rear. 8.2 is what older ones had I believe. 3rd and with locker had 7.5" ring. I would assume locker has smaller ring and regular the big one. Might have to notch the housing to get it in. Put 87 Supra limited slip in my 97 4runner but had to notch housing in 3 places to accept it. Worked fine

They are different. I wouldn't mess with it and create an issue where it might cost you more in the near future.
Site note, I just got done regearing my taco to 488's and so far so good, I can finally see the sixth gear in motion.

I'm not going to right now. I have enough to do before that. I'm going to wait and see how mileage and power are. Mine pulls really well with the few mods. I was going to a 285/70-17 Revo which is 32.7". They have a 285/70-17 and it's 33-33.4" I believe but they are SL load range. There's a 20lb difference per tire or more of rolling weight per wheel. That's why 10 ply E or C range tires suck the gas.
