I know this is a 4R forum and I love mine.

Just curious if anyone has a take on the Canyon V6 vs Tacoma. My neighbor who is a senior was looking at the Denali vs Limited Taco for towing a 3k lb boat like mine.

I told him the 4R but he wants a pickup.

Curious if any you have insight

On paper the Canyon would be better, but we're all Toyota fans here. He should be able to get the comparable Canyon for much cheaper than the Tacoma. I sat in an extended cab Canyon at the local CarMax (a great place to visit if you're checking out differences amongst brands because the have them all) and hit my elbow on the hard plastic exiting the cab. No thanks due to that alone from me.

I used to be a Chevy guy.

I've never had any real problems with mine so for a 3k boat I'd say it doesn't really matter. I've always heard people say Chevy interiors were sub par but I feel like every mid levelish car I've owned. The only one I've been impressed with is the wifes RX350.

I know a guy that went from Taco TRD Off-Road --> Colorado ZR1 (or ZR2 package... can't recall right now).

But I do know he likes the Colorado better.

I think the Colorado's interior looks more cheap. And I hate the seating position in both, personally.

I honestly don't care for either. I'm actually liking the new Frontier right now.

The Taco and Canyon/Colorado are all slated to be updated soon, so I'd wait too see what the new ones are like.

    Obviously tacoma....resale and reliability

I came from a tacoma and loved it, and when I sold it after 4 years and 60k+ miles I got what I paid for it. Can't beat that

Yeah I saw that. I think the GMC will be turbo four cylinder. I guess I am old school thinking a turbo and 4 and towing is not good who knows. It seems like the turbo would always be on towing.

I was never a GM quality fan but I will admit that Denali pickup does look sharp. Although that does not matter if lots of repairs.

I am so old school that’s why I got the 4R lol

I'd take a turbo 4 over the fake Atkinson 3.5 every day for towing. A turbo is always "on" whether it's creating boost or not. Of course, I'd take a Toyota over a GM for reliability. But, these turbo 4's are making more torque at lower RPM's than most V6's.

If they want it to last forever, they're probably better off with the Taco. But, if they want power for towing, I'd look elsewhere.

Since we're taking about towing. In my tacoma I towed alot(since the bed was only 5') . Its not a beast at towing, but does the job especially if its under 4000lbs. Keep it in s4 and hammer down cause the 3.5 loves the higher rpms
