    Hello fellow 4Runner owners,
I am seeking your help finding a "switched" circuit for a dashcam install, I am finding that some circuits stay hot for many minutes after shutdown making it hard to tell exactly which circuit/fuse would be best to use?
Note: I wish my dashcam to power down after engine shutdown, not concerned about having power for "Parking Mode" and I have found that constant power to dashcam is detrimental to the health and safety of the dashcam.
P.S. Dashcam is a Nextbase 622GW with rear window camera and Mfg. suggests circuit with less than 20amps.
    Thanks in advance!

You could PosiTap into the 12v power outlet.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Get a Dongar adapter and plug the dash cam into the power that runs the rear view mirror.

Thanks for the input, much appreciated.
I've considered the 12V power outlet and I am taking a look at the Dongar adapter as we speak :)

Yup, I discovered this when I had my 21' Tacoma. When I get my new 23' 4Runner, I'm going to hook it up (since the rear view mirror setup is the same). It took longer to unbox the adapter than it did to plug it in and mount it.

When I install dashcam for the 4Runner,

    1) Full time hot wire is connected to the battery and have a manual switch on the dash. After the switch then there is a low battery power cut unit purchased off Amazon. The output wire off that unit is connected to the full time hot wire to the camera.
    2) Drive mode wire is coming from the wire tap behind the cigarette lighter/12v circular port.

It's interesting that when I install dashcam for the Mazda CX30 the cigarette lighter/12v circular port is full-time hot even when car is locked. Thank goodness 4Runner doesn't do that.

Unfortunately, I can't go with a Dongar adapter as I am not mounting to the windshield (Illegal in Ohio) I am mounting the dashcam to an ICS dash mount. Cigarette lighter will be ideal as it is a "switched" circuit and doesn't stay hot after shutdown--Just need to find the fuse tap for that circuit and I will be good to go.
Thanks everyone for the great ideas!

    Order one of these:

    https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3256804572245079.html

Swap the outlets in the back to USB C and it also comes with a harness that can be used to tap into the front 12V outlet for your dashcam to run off of. Male and female connectors for the 12V outlet

Have a look at this to see how to tap into the lighter circuit.
