My friend has an older 4Runner that he is selling and is willing to let me swap his borla exhaust onto my new 4Runner. His 4Runner was in NY for a good chunk of its life and is over 100K miles. The clamp on the exhuast has some rust but not terrible and the exhaust itself is in pretty decent shape on the surface. It does not look shiny anymore obviously but it doesnt look like it is about to rust through anywhere. Is there any reason it would not be smart to swap such an old exhaust on to my new 4Runner?

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
Kinda hard to say. The exhaust system has 100K miles on it? Even though Borla makes good stuff that is a lot of miles. I'd guess that if it looks OK from the outside it's probably OK inside too but of course you have no way of knowing for sure. Borla is made of quality stainless so my guess is that it's OK but until you get it apart you and look inside with a good light there's no way of really knowing.

If it's stainless then it's not a big deal. Maybe get a new clamp or whatever is worn out on the old setup.
