I bet the guys on Jeep forums would laugh at some of our "issues." Ya gotta love Toyotas though.

Anyway, my stock 2020 XREAS-equiped Limited with 40,000 miles - which has never been off-road (shut up, I have other Toyotas) - has developed a "chirp". It's not squeak or a bang or a rattle... just a chirp. It's coming from the front driver side suspension. Well, it sounds like it's coming from the front driver side corner and it happens on moderate bumps. So, my assumption is it that it's the suspension.

It doesn't happen on big bumps - like speed bumps/humps or driveway/parking aprons - and it doesn't happen on very small/sharp bumps. It sounds like rubber or poly - like a bushing. So, a moderate bump yields one "chirp."

Any guesses before I head to the shop?

    Thanks!

    Oooh look, another mod.....

The guy in this thread had the same issue:

He found his answer (you may or may not) on post #4.

The hood latch is a possibility. There are numerous threads on that. I had a similar sound from the rear that ended up being the liftgate latch.

People have spent thousands replacing suspension components trying to fix this very same chirping sound. Much rending of clothes and gnashing of teeth have resulted by finding out that it was because the hood latch needed a tiny bit of grease.

If it’s not that, then it’s the plastic pins that hold on the floppy splash shields in the front wheel wells. Those are usually described as metallic tapping sounds.

You just caused my battery level on my phone to drop 20 percentage points trying to load all the ads on that site. I also think it caused a brownout in my house because the router got bogged.

    :p

Sounds familiar, most likely the hood latch. Wrap a single layer around latch on hood and that should fix it. Also clean the dust off the two main hood bumpers. Happens to me every time I drive on dusty trails.

I'd describe my fender liner sound as a chirp. Which is why I thought it had to be suspension related. But it wasn't. Fixed with two 1x1" squares of black duct tape.

Pull back the top part of the liner near the clips and you can see if it's been rubbing.
