Bought 18' Sr5 Prem last week. My third one (04 07). Son drives 04 and still clicking along at 190K.
I've scanned threads and don't see any that addresses my questions.
I have no need for off road, thus no 4wd (although I would have gotten one if available in white and prem).
I am thinking about rails. Any suggestions along those lines?
    What else would you do?
Does anyone have suggestions for drivers seat for better lumbar?
Am loving this site, wished I had known about before buying. I like the Highlander, but wife has a 17' and didn't want two of the same.
    Happy Turkey.

PS: need better mats than OEM, have seen posts for Husky and Weathertech. Leaning toward Husky. Comments?

I had husky’s in my Tacoma but not for the 4Runner yet. Would definitely recommend, they are far superior to the weathertechs that the wife has.

up in the snow country 4WD is most all trucks .. rare to find 2WD truck up my area. todays sloppy slushy mess 2WD not good day for driving. I do sometimes drive on the beach .. one time a person with a 2wd runner got stuck well that vehicle was stuck in the sand all day long .. my runner drove past that stuck runner like solid pavement ..

sometimes it can happen that 4WD is needed.my camaro got stuck on the backyard lawn last week , just a slight grade .. so I had the 10KLBS strap and a shackle pulled the camaro out like nothing was being pulled..

I just put Max Liners in my 4Runner, and they fit better than WeatherTech and Husky IMO, not to mention they are cheaper

I have the WeahterTech in my 4Runner. I like them. They fit well and look nice. I had the Husky x-act contours in my Tacoma and loved them. They were a softer, more rubbery material. I wanted the same when I got my 4Runner but Husky doesn’t offer them, only the weather beaters. I don’t know how the material of the weather beaters compares. If Husky will offer the x-act contours for the 4Runner I’d change in a second.

Thanks appreciate the insight. What about the other husky mats for 4runner?

I think Husky only offers the weather beater model/material for the 4Runner. It looks like those are more of a hard plastic like the WeatherTech. I haven’t seen them in person so somebody else will have to comment/compare. I’m sure they’re fine, I just wish they’d offer the x-act contour model for the 4Runner. Those were sweet in my Tacoma.

I like the weathertechs for the front and husky for the cargo liner.

OP, what did you mean by rails?

I prefer Weathertech because they go up higher on the foot well. Better for snow and mud/dirt. They're also much easier to clean than the Husky imo. I like the hard plastic. I had a set in my Tacoma and they looked almost new after 7 years.

What do you mean by rails? Are you talking about the luggage rack crossbars?

I know there are lots of opinions about side steps and, if you’re able to get to a dealer or a friend’s to try a set out, that’s best. The step placement and width are all a bit different. I speak only from my personal experience but I liked the Toyota Predator steps so well on my Tacoma that I bought them again when they came out for the 4Runner. They work perfectly for me getting in and out, and I’m sure will save my seat over the years. Kids use them too. I found the N-Fab front step a little too far forward for me. My experience. A solid running board will help more with washing or loading on the roof. I like the steps, though. I’d recommend trying a set at the dealer before purchasing if possible.
