I have a very strange noise going on with my 2017 TRD Off Road. It sounds like it is coming from the front console area or maybe from right in the middle under the dash.

The noise is similar to the chime when a door is ajar, but more high pitched. It is also similar to letting the air out of a balloon while holding the neck. This only happens when driving in a strong crosswind coming from the right at about 90 degrees. Have tried to duplicate it with the wind on the left in the same wind and nothing. If the wind is just a gust it will just sort of squeak or beep. If it is more steady wind, it is a constant screech.

Hoping for some input as it is going to be near impossible for the tech to duplicate it without a windy day.

It might be the door seal. A common problem in 2nd gen Tacoma's. The only thing that doesn't match is the location of the sound on yours. Could it be coming from the passenger side door seal?

I grabbed this screen shot from Tacoma World. The door seal is the updated seal (the TSB seal). As you can see, the updates seal has a 1/4" bead dropped into the channel. It doesn't run all the way to the bottom.

You can rest this out by very tightly twisting a napkin (or something similar) into a long skinny strip (mimicking the bead in the photo). And stick the napkin strip into your seal to see if it solves the problem.

I don't believe there is a tsb for the 4runner. Not sure, though.
