I just got a new steering rack and tie rod ends in this weekend from Mcgeorge Toyota. I plan on replacing the fluid and doing a power steering reservoir cleaning at the same time. I've got Timmy the Toolman's video for reference, I was just wondering if anyone on the forum has any tips or tricks before I start the job.

OK, so I did this not too long ago. I got a new Rack and new Ends.

The only thing I got frustrated with was reattaching the hose lines.

Here is my writeup adding my tips to Tim's video:

    https://www.4runners.com/threads/steering-rack-install.22725/

The big one is getting the rack CENTERED before the install which Tim's video doesn't do right. Like I tried to say in my post, after you get the old rack out...take the lower half of the rag joint and put it on the new rack. Dial the new rack all the way left...then all the way right and dial it back to the exact center. Mark where the center is. Then when you install, just keep the rack centered and the steering wheel centered when you join the two halves of the rag joint together.

Once you get it all back together the rack must be on its center mark and the steering wheel must be centered. If not, you need to pop things apart and move a notch one way or the other. When I took it in for alignment, they only had to adjust one side a few threads on the right side tie rod end.
