    Hello Errbody!

    2000 SR5 4x4 3.4L

Does anyone know if the steering knuckles are sold with the wheel bearings pre-installed?

Or does anyone have any used steering knuckles I could buy?

My sons truck spent a couple winters in the north, and the rust has taken over alot of the components. So the dust shields have completely rusted off. As you know, I would have to dismantle the bearing assembly in the hub to replace them. Seeing as I have already put on new Moog upper and lower control arms/ball joints/tie rods and ends/sway bar end links I wouldn't be satisfied putting old rusty steering knuckles back on the truck with no dust shields.

I suppose I could buy the knuckles and the bearings separately and have them installed (don't have a press). Just hoping someone would have a couple complete steering knuckle and hub assemblies laying around.

    What would you do?

Steering knuckles, also known as spindles, are available as bare spindles only.

The spindles come on the following vehicles -

    1995.5-2004 Toyota Tacoma 6 lug (Pre-Runner or 4x4)

    1996-2002 Toyota 4Runner

    Transmission plays no role.

What you will need to do is just buy a Koyo wheel bearing, and wheel axle hub if you so desire to replace your current one (not a wear item).

These are both pressed into the spindle itself.

Just make sure you get the appropriate wheel axle hub, as your 4x4 vehicle is equipped with ADD (automatic disconnecting differential). I only mention this in the event that a manual hub variant comes up in your parts search.

Also, since you have a 4Runner, choose the type with ABS. Tacoma's were available with and without ABS; 4Runner came standard with it.

Ideally, I would just buy a set used as you can buy them for as little as $100 for the pair. Even more if you're buying good used parts.

A lot of people offer them as some like to weld on gussets to further strengthen them (for off road use).
