I recently replaced my worn out plastic steering wheel in my 2013 SR5 4x4 with an OEM leather wrapped wheel from a 2017 Tacoma. I used a bad video to guide me through which failed to mention leaving the 19mm nut loose on the wheel when pulling to remove it or to mind the air bag connectors. When I pulled the wheel popped loose and grabbed the connectors which popped the cover off the spiral cable assembly (clock spring). I removed the spiral cable assembly and did my best to respool the cable and reinstall. I did but within a couple blocks of my house two dash lights illuminated (Slip Indicator Light and Power Steering.) I once again decided to inspect the spiral cable assembly and while I could not find any obvious damage the cap never wanted to stay on so I ordered a new OEM unit from eBay.

Last night I installed the new spiral cable assembly and removes and attached the Steering Angle Sensor. I made sure all three connectors were securely fastened and the lights remained. All buttons and cruise control work, so my next step was Zero Point Calibration. I used two paper clips and started by inserting each one in the corresponding port of 4 or 12, but keeping them from touching. I turned the ignition to "On" and then tapped the paperclips together 4 times within 8 seconds to clear the Zero Point which caused the ABS light to flash as well as the Slip Indicator light. I then turned the ignition off, held the paper clips together, and turned it on... ABS flashed and the Slip Indicator did for a second. I then turned the ignition off and removed the paper clips, turned it back on and both Slip Indicator Light and Power Steering Light remain illuminated.

Before I throw more money at sensors and replace the Steering Angle Sensor is there something I'm doing wrong or something else I should be doing or checking?

I have same issue. I think I need to have a steering sensor recalibrated with specific computer or have blue box that attaches to spiral cable(steering sensor) replaced. Which basically means the spiral cable and steering sensor have to be purchased. Sucks. How did you fix?
