First of all, I pre-accept all criticism for not reading 500 page manual and not knowing about this, just posting for all the others who don't know so they can avoid getting the blasting I anticipate.... (something dealer should have mentioned on delivery I claim)

I migrated from a 2008 4G with a KEY and FOB which you could program a new one from the truck itself onto a new one you could buy on ebay. I had several spares!

You can start the (well my 2024 anyway) 4R with dead or no battery in fob by holding the fob very close to the START button, and pushing the button with foot on brake like usual!

    Very cool.

    Oooh look, another mod.....
Good morning, sir. Criticism is not what we do on this site, nor do we condone it. We are here to support one another in a loving and nurturing environment.

....I can't believe I typed all that out without laughing. I'm getting better at this sarcasm stuff.

To vindicate the OP, I would not know about this trick without this website. I'm sure it is somewhere in the war and peace novel that came with the truck.

I still recommend to read manual maybe not whole 500 pages at once, but read it all. It's available in pdf on Toyota web site. There's many useful things which might save you some frustration or maybe save you from accident if you get understanding of how all that modern electronic works and what to expect of it : )
