Is it possible? I have the push button start. I don't believe you can do it with the Carista app. My passenger often gets in the truck before me and I'd like her to be able to turn the heat on as soon as she gets in.

Must be different from my 2019, where you can twist the key to start without pressing the brake. Perhaps yours is push button start?

Go outside start 4R (for passenger princess) go back out do your thing.

I feel you the wifes Lexus same thing. But its not that hard to go start it then get back out and do your thing.

You could probably rig some type of switch to close the circuit and activate the brake switch.

Get a remote start. Not sure if the engine will go off when you open a passenger door though.

Can you give your key to your passenger and have her start the vehicle from driver's side and then move to the passenger side?

Alternately, do you have seat heaters (and do they work without the vehicle started)? Might be enough heat until you get in to start the car and warm it up.

Push the brake pedal down with a stick while pressing the start button. A vacuum cleaner extension tube works well for this.

    This is the way.
I've rigged clutch start cancel buttons in all of my manuals using a momentary switch. I'm sure it's a bit more complicated with the electronics of today's rigs though. Should be pretty easy to look at a wiring diagram though

My 4Runner is on order so I can’t try it but go press and hold the start button for 30 secs or a little longer with the key present in the car and not pressing the brake. Our Highlander started like this and was a work around for the passenger.

Is it that cold in Colorado in July? If you want her to get hot as soon as she enters come to Phoenix. It’s 116F, it’s very hot as soon as you enter. Can you trade her with me? Lol

I was about to ask this question. If it's a problem in July how do they survive winter?

Thanks guys, I'll try holding it for 30 seconds, though wiring in the switch may be the way to go.

And it's not bad at all, especially compared to Tucson, but I'm trying to plan ahead for winter.

Not on push button. Safety thing like all Toyotas. I like the button but it confuses me sometimes with it’s quirks. I think you have to press brake on most things now. Before long we will all be riders in our own 4runners they are so advanced. I wish drivers passengers door unlocked like the other side. Inconvenient
