Squeaky front suspension

I have a 2023 OR 4runner with about 12,000 miles and today on some kinda rough two track roads the front end developed a squeak when going over bumps or holes. Is it a common problem and is there anything i can do to quiet it?

 

A few weeks ago I developed a squeaking noise in the front of my 2022 SR5 Premium 4WD. I traced the squeak to the two adjustable rubber bump stops under the hood- one at each front corner of the engine compartment. You’ll see them when you have the hood open. They are adjustable by turning them clockwise or counter-clockwise. I spritzed the tops of both of those black rubber bump stops with some WD-40 and the squeaking noise stopped. This might be where your squeak is coming from. I also thought the noise was coming from my front suspension at first, before finding out otherwise. Other than WD-40, I suppose a couple dabs of white grease on the bump stops, or some silicone spray could also be used. Good luck.

 

If it’s not the hood adjusters or hood latch, check your engine splash guards.

Please excuse my ignorance, but what and where are they?

I did go through some mud and a little water before it started squeaking, not a lot, but some. That’s why I thought suspension first.

I ended up replacing mine with aftermarket ones to avoid the noise. To diagnose it, I placed electric tape on them and drove around on a route I knew would make the noise…with the tape, the noise stopped. I ordered replacements from a place called “rad rubber designs”

 

I went to a self serve car wash and was able to get a ton of dirt out of the wheel wells. Now I don’t hear the squeak.

The looks like plastic screws holding the splash guard, are those like thumb screws? Is there a nut or a threaded hole behind the guard?

I think the part number is 90467-10186 (if I'm not mistaken).
