Hello! I recently purchased a 2000 4Runner 3.4L. The speedometer and odometer are not working. The previous owner lifted the 4Runner and removed the ABS for some reason. Is there anyway I can get my speedometer and odometer back without replacing the whole ABS system? Seems to drive and stop fine without it.

The ABS has nothing to do with the speedo/odo not working. Sounds to me like the speedo cable is not properly connected at the transfer case (or at the dash cluster), so no information is being communicated between the two.

Also, I'm not entirely sure if an '00 4Runner uses a speedo cable or a wiring harness to send the info to the dash. Whichever it is, it might be that it broke, in which case you'll need a new cable or to fix the wiring.

Here's a photo of the speedo gear/assembly on the transfer case. Start there and follow it to the dash. You can seem more photos and see how the gear itself is removed (perhaps your gear is worn), here: Replacing the Speedo Gear – AdventureTaco
