    Balling on a budget saving up for new paint so looking to get a cheap soft top on my first gen for the summer? Any recommendations?

    Oooh look, another mod.....
    Do what I used to do to military vehicles (HMMV's, Jeeps, Duece & 1/2's, etc..) back in the 90's: Use military grade canvas as a full soft top or bimini top. The material cost is wallet-friendly and it's very easy to "make your own".

    I remember a few times we tossed a 15x15 piece over the bed rails of a duece n a half, then used knives to trim off the excess. Then used velcro straps & zip ties to hold it all down. The material also works great for make-shift tents when you're bivouacking.
