The Toyota gingineers all sat around a big table to discuss what needs to be in a 2019 4Runner.

One of 'em says "Hey, I really think we should have a heated steering wheel for all those poor bastards north of the 52nd parallel. C''mon guys, it's 2019."

Regardless, the other gingineers don't agree and they all decide that................adding a heated rear side window defroster makes more sense. Like, fucking really?

I had to leave my truck outside a couple of nights ago. Temps were around -10*F when I got into her the next morning for my 11 minute drive to work (yeah, I's a lucky bastard). I froze my fingers. Yeah, I coulda worn gloves. Haven't had to do that since 2000.

Rant off. Vodka helps me "express myself" LOL

I think that what you have is radio antenna in the glass not defrosters.

At first I want to reply with something like "Why you namby pamby sissy, afraid of the cold... put some gloves on would you!!!"... but then I realize how much sometimes I wish I had a heated steering wheel too, lol.

It is; but I love the vodka rant & the nod to it! LMAO
It is called a "glovebox" for a reason! Lol We keep 2 pair of light "driving gloves" in there for Nebraska winters. That wheel is cold.

You know if you aim the vents, the one by the drivers door, and the one to the right of the steering wheel they blow warm air at the 10 & 2 positions right at the steering wheel.

Correctish, however the 2 side windows are an antenna. Not defrost. It appears the same. The sharkfin is only foCorrection,

Blacked out badges, window deflectors, smoked 3rd brake light. I have a Borla muffler on order as well as some color matched engine cover stickers. I'll be painting the stock wheels soon as well. Falken tires in the fall as well.
That's what I do and it helps but I'd really like a heated wheel.

I've never had a vehicle with a heated steering wheel. No idea how I've survived this long.

I have had a couple of vehicles with heated seats, and those were much more pleasant than I anticipated.

I remember getting up at 4 am to go to work in Iowa at the Maytag plant when the actual air temp was -25 degrees with a 25 mph wind. I would get fully dressed, then go start the car, then come back in the house and shower, get dressed, and eat breakfast while the car warmed up. The ride to work for the first few miles was like the Flintstone car since the oil in the shocks was frozen and the tires were frozen. -60 below zero is no joke.

Sorry bud, but my rear window defroster button has a symbol of the rear window and a smaller symbol in the shape of the rear side windows.

Thats Rear Window and Side View Mirrors defroster button. (Rear side windows are outfitted with radio antennas)

*The heated side view mirrors, windshield (@ Wipers), seats and rear window did work decently with yesterdays 16" of snow but I always though NA 4Runners should have a heated steering wheel option.

I need a cooled steering wheel here in Florida but....I guess that would be a 1st world problem. I do feel it takes a hearty individual to endure those sub zero temps. I took a February work trip to Pittsburgh a few years ago, FREAKING BRRRRR!!! And that was only single digits. First time I ever had a beer freeze in my hand. Major Props to you folks.

    ROFL.....I guess I stand corrected

My bad bud. I took a look and you're right, the smaller symbol does look like side mirros

Well, I'm glad you took that bullet. I understood what the button was meant to represent. BUT I also believed the rear 3/4 windows had defrosters in them. That seems like a lot of wiring for an antenna.

Yep... Same here. It took a few frosty mornings and quality time with the manual to figure out that awful button icon was a side mirror.

So wait, wtf is in the shark fin, then? I guess we have an FM, an AM, and a Satellite "antenna?" Maybe two for satellite (one for SiriusXM and another dedicated to Toyota? Sorry I'm not a radio expert lol)?
